A project from the Autobahn Interiors archives... A Signal Yellow Porsche 1972 911 ST!

Early Porsche enthusiasts!

Back in 2013 Autobahn Interiors worked on a Porsche 911 owned by Scott Longballa, who we are happy to say has since been back to us with the 911 featured on our blog September 24th 2014. This was a full restoration inside and out and was such an interesting project that it was featured in "Porsche Panorama" magazines February 2013 edition. The original article was written and photographed by Randy Wells. The photos taken by Randy Wells were also used on our blog for this posting.

The goal for this project was to recreate a 1972 ST "prototype" that Longballa had seen in photographs his Uncle had. The build would be all steel except for an alluminium engine lid and license plate panel. The original deco holes in the front and rear bumpers would be left unfilled, and the front horn / intake areas would be painted Black and left bare as on the car factory photos. There would be minor differences such as the use of wider wheels, front and rear Fuchs size changes, and the car was to be painted in Signal Yellow rather than Light Ivory.

Autobahn Interiors was entrusted with the interior, and handles the dashboard, light weight carpeting, rubbber floor mats, trim, headliner and the door panels. We also upholstered high-bolster, ST style race buckets from Vintage Seats. A correct driver's footrest, vintage-style roll bar, period belt anchors and reproduction Repa seat belts laid across German Corduroy and Black Vinyl provide just the right retro look!.

All in all this was a very exciting and successful project Autobahn Interiors were involved in and we thank Scott Longballa for bringing us onboard to assist in turning his childhood memories into a reality!
